Why Snowboarding Is Better Than Skiing

Ever been in the situation of choosing between snowboarding and skiing? Well, I have, and I’m really glad i chose snowboarding. If you were to find yourself in this situation right now I’m here to help you. Here are some tips of the benefits of snowboarding vs skiing!

More fun once you get the hang of it

Snowboarding is very different from skiing. Snowboarding as  a much newer sport than skiing. This makes skiing to me seem very simple and plain. I recently went skiing in a local resort and damn, it was easy. It was almost impossible to fall. It felt like your feet were locked to the skies, which made it nearly impossible to tilt forward or backwards. The fact that skiing was so easy made me like it less. There was literally no challenge.

The real reason why I found snowboarding so much more fun than skiing was that there were a huge challenge to it. It felt so much better learning stuff on a snowboard compared to skis. Even tricks were more fun to do on a snowboard. I guarantee you that once you learn how to snowboard, the experience is much better.

The light weighted shoes

The boots that come with snowboards are a dream to wear compared to skiing boots. Literally, everything with them is better! Snowboard boots have an average weight on 1-2kg/3-5 pounds. Ski boots weight more than twice this weight, about 5-6kg/12-15 pounds. This is a huge difference. This makes the snowboard boots much more mobile and convenient.

The ski boots are also really uncomfortable and hard to get on. I’ve had several friends complaining about that the boots hurt their claves. We’ve had to take several breaks because of this, and it can be really annoying. You’ll know what I’m talking about if you have friends that skis too. Anyways, the snowboard boots will serve you much better in any way!

Snowboard gear is much cheaper

This is maybe one of the best thing about snowboarding. It is actually really cheap. You still might have had the thought about some snowboard gear being expensive. I can relate myself, but compared to what skiers pay for their gear, it’s nothing. Why snowboard gear is cheaper am I not really sure about. It could be that it requires less expensive material to make, or because it’s less popular. Chances are many!

Another thing, that I know for a fact that makes snowboard gear cheaper is that skiers have more gear/equipment needed. Different from us snowboarders, they also have to pay for ski poles.

Anyways, that’s it for this post. Hopefully you now know what to choose between, of snowboarding and skiing. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them down below!

Cool! I was thinking on buying a snowboard but i don’t really know what type.

What do you recommend for a guy that is 179cm tall, and that weighs 68kg?
